Goodbye 2010

My tummy at 21 weeks.

This time last year I was pregnant. Sadly I miscarried and it seemed the year would start out awfully. After a few months and lots of tears I was able to recover and get back to my routine. I have to admit that depression hit me really hard and it was a good thing I have a good family doctor who helped me get medication. When the summer began and I was still not pregnant I decided to go medication free and was able to get pregnant in August. I have forgotten how strange and wonderful it is to feel a tiny life fluttering inside of you. I also forgot how yucky all the pregnancy symptoms are and how uncomfortable you get. I am grateful and so excited to get ready for the arrival of our new baby girl in May. I survived my first semester of college this fall as well. It was tough with a pregnant brain that doesn't remember things easily. I got pretty good grades and am proud of my accomplishment. Even though I got a C in US History and a B in Marriage and Family I think I did well.

Colt and his massive 18" biceps and bulging triceps.

Colt has been such a strength to me this last year. He has withstood my tears and emotional outbursts and held me during some long nights. He has been busy at work and has started working from home Tuesdays and Thursdays. It is good to have him home to help me if I need it because luckily he doesn't have too many calls to make. I have had to expand my breakfast beyond cold cereal though, I am getting really good at scrambled eggs and hash browns. Colt has kept up his workout routine and gotten stronger and bigger in the upper body. He got new shirts for Christmas and even those are tight in the arms. He is such a good daddy to Emma and He is excited to get another girl in the house, or so he says.

Emma making a "CHEESE" face.

Goodness how this little girl has grown. She has amazed me with her growing vocabulary and knowledge of the world according to Emma. She can count to 11 and recite her ABC's. She is all about princesses and playing in her kitchen and with her babies. She took swimming lessons and though we didn't learn much I am planning to put her in again this summer. We spent so much time outside playing with the neighbor kids that all this being inside during the freezing cold has been tough on both of us. One of our biggest accomplishments has been potty training. I can honestly say that it was way too easy. She has been wearing pull-ups for at least 4 months and I really think that helped her feel when she wet and poo training was the first to get done. It is so nice not to deal with diapers and the yucky smell they produce. When we told her there would be no more pull-ups and offered her a toy for being a big girl she loved the idea. We went to the store and of all things she picked out a Zhu Zhu Pet. She calls it Pinkie Princess and she has carried it everywhere. I am so proud of her. What a joy she is in my life.

I am thankful for all the blessings in my life.
I pray that 2011 is as great as 2010 was.
Here's to a new year and new memories.
