My First Born

Oh my sweet Emma. There aren't enough words to describe how much I love this girl. She is amazing in so many ways. Emma is the first of my sweet girls I want to catch up on.

Emma is now in second grade and loving it. She is active in class and a great student. She loves math, science and reading. She attends chorus and drama twice a week and absolutely loves both. She is so well rounded. She has lots of friends and has several that she is close with that thankfully live nearby. She loves to play games on her computer and watch Disney shows. She loves anything that has to do with Monster High and Disney's Descendants. She still plays dress-up and house and she is so great with her sisters. Emma is still taking piano from our sweet neighbor and loves it. She is growing and getting better everyday with reading music and getting her timing right. I love to see her blossom.

We had a very busy summer this year. We took a weekend trip to West Yellowstone and saw Bears and Wolves at a conservation park. We visited with Potter family and made lots of great memories. We walked through town and shopped and we had great breakfast each morning. Each night before we went to bed we spent at least an hour swimming in the pool at the hotel. It had a great water slide that all the girls loved. Emma is a little fish and would live in the water if I let her. She loves to show off by diving in and swimming as far as she can. It is fun to watch her giggle and pretend to be a mermaid. She reminds me so much of myself as a little girl.

We spent a lot of time at the splashpad this summer. We are lucky enough to have two close by our house. All the girls loved going there to cool off and play. We all got great tans through our sunscreen and they got their wiggles out. We brought along several friends and family with us to play and visit as well. I loved that we had hot weather long enough to enjoy it even through September.

Shortly after school started we took the girls for a hike around Silver Lake close to our house. I love this picture of the three of them hand in hand. Emma taking the lead and the two younger girls following. She takes such good care of them. She plays with Carly and lets her play with her barbies and dolls. They fight like two cats in a bag sometimes but for the most they are so sweet to watch. Emma's best skills are with Katelyn. She knows how to stop her meltdowns and get her laughing so hard. She talks softly to her and reads her stories. I am so thankful for her tender heart and her ability to know just what to do to help me out.

When I finished Emma's bedroom she got to sleep in the old queen bed Colt and I had. I asked her one night after fighting with Katie to lay down if we could try letting Katie sleep with her. She was more than willing, though she made an annoyed face. That started an amazing trend that has been constant for three months. Katie sleeps in Emma's bed now. We have a great routine that involves stories and prayers followed by kisses for both then lights out. It has been great for both of them. Emma isn't afraid or nervous about bedtime and Katie almost always falls right to sleep. Eventually Katie still ends up in my bed but its getting better. I love going in to check on them before I turn in and see them so peaceful snuggled up close. Gosh I am blessed.
