Birthday Bash

Monday was Emma's first birthday. We had quite a busy weekend to celebrate.

FRIDAY: Colt was home for the day putting his new system in the truck so Emma and I met up with my mom and sisters at Southtown Mall for a little window shopping and lunch, Darlene met us too. On our way out of the bathroom we passed by Claire's jewelry store and saw a baby getting her ears pierced. I text Colt and got his permission and Emma got some pretty pink sparkling earrings. She wasn't too crazy about us holding her hands and she cried when the girl put them in her ears but she hardly noticed them after about 10 minutes. When Colt's mom came home and saw Emma's ears she all but freaked out she thought I did it without asking Colt. I guess having no girls ear piercing was not an issue for her. Emma looks so grown up. I love it.

SATURDAY: After helping get things ready for the party I went to get my nieces and nephew from Magna. They were going to spend the night with us. We got back to the house and because I wasn't really watching the time I nearly forgot to pick up the birthday cake. Everyone arrived and we had dinner and watched Emma open her gifts. I made her a pretty tutu and got her a birthday girl shirt she looked so cute. She loved having everyone around and all the attention. When she was finished opening her gifts everyone clapped for her and she clapped too. when we put her in her highchair and sang to her she looked so cute and couldn't stop smiling. She was so funny eating her cake, she didn't want to get her hands messy so she used only one finger and just the icing. It was so cute but if you ask my sisters it wasn't fun to watch her because she wasn't messy. That night after everyone left we got into our jammies and went downstairs with the kids. Emma was having so much fun playing with her cousins that it took till 11 to get her to settle down for bed. I sent Emma and Colt up to bed and stayed up till 1 playing games.

SUNDAY: We woke up kind of early and I made French toast for everyone. Instead of getting dressed we decided to watch a movie in front of the big screen. The kids decided to make forts and watch in their sleeping bags.

Kieth's fort

Nikki opted for the couch since all the good fort spots were taken

We decided to go to the park after the movie and we all walked to Dimple Dell in our neighborhood to play on the playground. The kids and Colt played tag for 45 minutes Emma spent a lot of time picking up the wood chips and trying to eat them. (don't worry I stopped her)
Pretty soon Emma started getting grumpy so we headed back home.

Overall we had a great weekend but we were sure glad to have quiet Sunday night. Colt and I are so grateful for our beautiful Emma. She is growing so fast I can't believe it. I'm sure there are a lot of adventures ahead of us but I'm still trying to recover from these ones.
