Today has been a long time coming. Since the day we brought Katelyn home I have had several people ask when we would bless her. It has been tough to decide when the time would be right. We were gone a lot during the summer. I was a germ-o-phobe when she was so small. Now with cold and flu season coming upon us we decided to bless her today. I didn't want to make a big production of things so we could avoid bringing any germs to Katie. We invited my parents and Sabrina and Luis, Colt's brother Chase and his wife Chantelle. Had my grandmother been able to come after her hip surgery she would have been here with grandpa. Grump and Grandma came as well as a close family friend. The bishopric came over to preside and that was it. Colt gave Katelyn a beautiful blessing and I could feel the spirit warming the room. Katelyn is having surgery on Tuesday and we felt it was a must to give her a blessing surrounded by such wonderful men in her life. I hope that family and friends who read this are not offended that we didn't invite them to the church and do it there. Katie cannot afford to get sick right now and having just a few people over to Jim and Julies house seemed the best way to keep her from exposure. I promise that in February when the time comes to celebrate her first birthday it will be a huge party and everyone I can think of will be invited to help us cheer for her to smash cake. I am so grateful for the people we have in our life both near and far. I have felt so many prayers for Katelyn and our family. It is strange to think of where we were a year ago. Please continue to keep us in your thoughts this week as she goes through surgery and recovery.

I think that's the best way to bless a baby: with the people who are closest to her, in her own home.
Keeping you in our thoughts and prayers this week! Love you guys!
