I WANT MY MOMMY!

Geez a month goes by fast when you get busy. We just returned from a much needed vacation to Bear Lake and man did I miss being home. Let Me explain: Colts grandparents have 2 great condos right on the lake and the whole family goes up for at least 2 weekends each year. We went over memorial weekend and enjoyed the peace and quiet since it was just our little family and our Grandparents, this week was the complete opposite. We left for what we thought would be a week of boating and golf for the guys and crafts for the girls. Not so much. Colts aunt and uncle have 4 kids ages 9 through 5 months. The kids LOVE Emma, that's not a big deal except Emma isn't used to all the up-close attention. Those kids gave her kisses and wanted to hold her all the time, meanwhile their own baby sister just spent time on the floor babbling to herself, cute but sad. One afternoon I was in bed with a terrible migraine( I know it sucked more than I can tell you ) Julie was trying to put Emma to sleep and she kept waking up so finally she brought her into the bedroom with me and put her in the playpen. After 5 minutes of quiet Emma woke up crying and Colt came in to help, upon getting her out of bed he bumped her head on the TV which set both him and the baby into tears, he felt bad for accidentally hitting her head and Emma for obvious reasons. I jumped out of bed and consoled them both and wiped the tears away. After that day we decided to have "quiet time" as soon as it got dark.
One of the nights all the women went to see a play at The Pickleville Playhouse, Thoroughly Modern Millie, it was great by the way. We left all the kids with the guys and had a great time. During intermission I sent Colt a text asking how things were going and he said Emma had been crying the whole time almost 2 hours. When we returned to the condos I could see Colt cradling our baby girl and pacing the hall trying to get her to sleep. I have never seen anything so beautiful. When I got into our bedroom he was nearly in tears himself (again) I asked if he was okay and he whined, "No it was horrible! She was only quiet for 30 minutes!" That night he realized how tough it really was to be a mommy. Overall we really did have a good time we did what we wanted and napped ahen we could. I love Bear Lake and I'm excited for next year when Emma can say NO and defend herself from the over zealous cousins.

Poor baby girl!!!!! Sounds like it was a great trip overall and I'm totally envious that you got some serious 'quiet time'!

Well a vacation wouldn't be worth it if it didn't make you glad to come home, right? I'm glad you guys were able to squeeze a little fun in between the tears and migraines!

At least you know that she's going to grow up to be a tough girl with so many cousins messing with her all the time. I think that Colt is so sweet! You found yourself a good husband!
