There is no Easter Bunny!!

Emma and the Sams Club Easter Bunny

When I was a little girl we usually celebrated Easter with a new Sunday dress and a little treat. We often went to Eastern Utah with my dad's family. We would load up all the camping gear in the back of the truck and head to the desert for a weekend of getting dirty, shooting lizards and riding the four-wheelers. When it came time for the egg hunt the kids would go for a walk while the eggs were hidden and come back to find as many as we could. To celebrate the egg hunt we would play baseball with the found eggs. Tradition called for the occasional raw egg to be thrown into the mix thanks to Uncle Kenny, We had a blast. Sometimes we would visit my Grandma Clark in Sandy. She taught us how to put on robins egg lipstick and eat those circus peanut bunnies. My favorite treat was when we would get a tiny carton of egg shaped bubble gum, I loved those. We got to go on an egg hunt but that was about the extent of our celebration. I remember asking my Grandma why we didn't get big baskets of candy and cool stuff and she told me that there was no Easter bunny because she shot it and cooked it in a stew. I think she was kidding :)
Colts family did get baskets of cool stuff. He would wake in the morning to have to find his basket of cool chocolates and prizes. His family often went to his grandparents house in Springville. Grandma would make a big lunch and make sure that everyone got their own eggs and treats for the egg hunt. The family favorite was and still is those cute little peep bunnies and chicks. I have to agree.
Emma's Easters have been spent with her great-grandparents. Her first Easter she was only 4 weeks old, last year she was just walking and had so much fun finding her eggs. This year she got to wake up to find an Easter basket filled with chocolate and cool stuff.

The Easter Bunny brought her 3 princess ballerina dolls, a new dress, a book, a kite, a Tinkerbell cup and of course a package of pink peep bunnies. We traveled to Springville to spend the day with family eating yummy food, playing on the playground across from Grumps. We had an egg hunt inside because of the yucky weather but Emma still loved it.

I have a great family. I hope that Emma has fond memories of her Easters with her family. I think next year we should play egg hunt baseball though. :)

I love hearing people's Easter traditions and so glad you are combining the two of yours for your little lady. She looks adorable in all the photos!

I spent all day telling Mike about playing baseball with eggs and how there were always a few raw ones in the mix. Guess who ALWAYS ending up hitting the raw eggs and had to deal with egg in her long hair for the rest of the camping trip? That's right, ME!
