Such is Life

I am so sorry that I have been so neglectful with keeping up with my blog. We have been so busy moving in with Colt's parents so I don't have to worry about stranger germs around Katie and we can have more showings without cleaning at a moments notice. We are all 4 staying in the basement. Emma has her own room so she can keep with her bedtime routine and Colt and I share with Katelyn. Her bed is on one side of the room and ours is on the other. We have our tv and movies and a small couch and our clothes but the rest is at the house staged so it looks big. It has been an adjustment and privacy is an issue but we have a bathroom and we are making it work.

We spent the 4th of July weekend at Bear Lake with Colts family as we traditionally do. We spent a  lot of time at the pool. Gramma Jujee bought Emma a swimsuit that has floatation built in and wearing that she swam the whole length of the pool like a champ. Katie kept me indoors a bit but I spent the most of it watching movies and holding her. Nighttime was tough as she didn't want to sleep in her playpenbut we managed. I got to watch the beautiful sunrises over the lake so that sort of made up for it.

Katelyn has made some good progress in her growth and development. Her last cardiology visit was nothing but good news, She is 7lbs 6oz and 20in long. There are no signs of a VSD. Her heart has healed! We will return in a year to follow her progress. Her eyes are still not 100% mature but her Dr says he doesn't think she'll need any corrective care right now. We will return to see him next week. Early Intervention has been to see Mini twice and both visits have been good. This is a therapy program in Utah that helps babies and toddlers up to age 3 with their development. ( for more info go HERE ) Katie's  first evaluation went well and we were assigned a OT named Brett who has 2 young boys of his own. although the session was for Katie I think Emma took a liking to him. Katie shows no signs of Cerebal Palsy right now but it is something we have to keep an eye on. She has some stiffness in her hip joints and I was given some stretches to help with that. I was also encouraged to change her position throughout the day to keep pressure off the back of her head where it is slightly flat, she favors her right side so what do you expect. The one concern I have is about her bowels. Not to get too personal but Katie is not a regular pooper. It might just be paranoia about not knowing about her cord but bowel problems can be symptomatic of a tethered cord. I need to get that confirmed so we can fix her tummy. I hate giving her miralax and juice doesn't help much. We'll just see how it goes. Her next well child visit is next month.

Katelyn is getting so big. I love the look on strangers faces when I tell them she is 4 1/2 months old. she is fitting into some of her newborn clothes and most of the preemie sizes have been boxed up. She is beginning to coo and make these cute little baby noises and her grin just melts my heart. She is sleeping in her crib better and will even put herself to sleep. Emma seems pretty well adjusted to having her around until grandma holds Mini then you can see that Emma isn't ready to share her grandma with anyone. Its been great to finally have nice weather so we can play outside. I look forward to going camping with my family for the 24th of July weekend. It will be Katie's first camping trip. It should be fun. Thanks for sticking with me guys. You're the best!!
