Vacation Time, Part 1

Our first Family vacation of the year was a great experience. All of the girls did pretty good during our flight and it wasn't too bad getting through security so that was good. Katie proved to be a bit of a challenge she was awake the whole flight and didn't like being strapped in her carseat but thanks to veggie straws and her binky we made it. Bug got to sit in the cockpit as we left the plane and thought she was something special.

We got to our hotel the first night and made plans for breakfast with Mickey and day 1 at Disneyland. While preparing for our first adventure I was changing Carly on one bed and Colt was looking up Disneyland info on his phone on the other bed with Katie playing near him. With my back turned I suddenly heard a big thump and turn to see that Katie had fallen 2 feet off the bed onto the rough carpet and got a nasty rug burn on her forehead. She was shaken up but not too hurt besides the nice bump on her head. We didn't turn our backs to her the rest of the trip.

We woke early on Tuesday morning so we could have breakfast with Mickey at the Paradise Pier Hotel. I made reservations and knew that it was a buffet and figured that it would be a good way to fill up for our day at the park. We got to see a few characters but not many, so that was a bummer but not anything like the price. Lets just say that we should have gone to Ihop and had all you can eat pancakes. When Colt got the bill he was so ticked off he talked about it the whole day. Not a good start to the day.

Colt and I asked Grandad and JuJee to take the babies back to the hotel for a nap so we could take Emma for her first experience at Disneyland. We headed right to California Adventure thinking that it would be less crowded and we might get a chance at Carsland. We weren't quite early enough, the lines were already pretty long so we decided to walk the pier and we started with Ariels Undersea Adventure. It was a great ride to start the day with. We rode a few more rides in Bugs Land which Emma loved with the exception of the 4-D movie, (lets just say tears and screaming). We saw a few characters before meeting up with well rested grandparents and babies. Day 1 was busy but we had a good time and we ended the night with a dip in the pool.

Day 2 was spent entirely in Disneyland Park. We waited in line to see Tinkerbell and just happened to see Belle on our way to the castle. Emma was lucky enough to take a walk with her and I got my favorite picture of the whole trip: let the Aw's begin.

We rode the new Star Tours and Buzz Lightyear and walked till our feet felt like they would fall off. We saw princesses and Stormtroopers and watched Jedi training. There were tears of hunger and exhaustion and there were lots of memories made. We sat on the curb and watched a fun parade and had icecream melt all over our fingers. We bought souvenirs and I took tons of pictures with my cool new phone. We had so much fun. I loved it.

I wish we could have spent more than 2 days at the park but we had plans to head to San Diego for the rest of the week. Next time we go it will be for 4 days and no one will be in diapers or strollers. Even though we didn't ride too many rides because of the long lines I think Emma had a great time. She had no idea all the things we couldn't do because of the crowds, it makes a return trip that much more exciting. Stay tuned for part 2 of vacation. . .
