Vacation Part 2

I realize it has been nearly a month since my last post but with all the stuff going on at our house blogging hasn't exactly been on the to do list. More on that later. As promised here is a rundown of our visit to San Diego. We drove an hour and a half at 7 pm so we could meet up with everyone in San Diego. Chase Chantelle and baby Lincolin flew in while we were finishing up at Disneyland and grandma and grandad went to pick them up. We decided to go to Sea World first. We figured it wasn't going to be too busy on a Wednesday and we were right. The weather was great and all the kids were well behaved for the most part. The first exhibit we went to was the dolphin pool. Colt took Emma up close so she could touch one and all I saw was Colt back up and a huge splash. The dolphin must have thought Emma was a cutie because he reared back his tail and splashed her with a wave of water. She instantly began crying and of course we were all laughing. All Emma could say was "I HATE dolphins!" Awesome. We found a walk-in dryer and payed a ridiculous $5 to stand in what looked like a giant microwave and got the two of them dry. The rest of the day went great after that.

We watched Shamu and saw the polar bear. We saw pink flamingos and cute wobbly penguins. Touched starfish and rays. The babies relaxed in the strollers and Emma ran all over Sesame Street  playland. Colt and I rode a roller coaster called the Manta with Chase and Chantelle and it was so fun we rode it 3 times. The guys rode the Atlantis ride and got wet. It was a good day and we went home a little sunburned and pretty tired.

The next day we went to the San Diego Zoo. It was nice to see all the different animals we don't have here in Utah but man, we walked so much. It is like hiking miles and miles up hill all day. We liked the panda bear and the red panda was so cute napping in the tree. We had a nice lunch and saw lots of cool things. Another successful day of exploring an exciting new place for us.

The Zoo had these cool statues of animals that once roamed the area. I couldn''t believe how big that Elephant is, Emma is crouched beneath it's foot pretending to be stepped on. The Big bear Colt is standing in front of was huge. So cool. The best part was We didn't have too many melt downs with the babies, phew.

A few more cute pictures from the zoo. Check out my cute nephew Lincolin in his sun glasses and hat. Aw

Our last full day we went to a place called Old Town San Diego. It was a Spanish settlement and had a Mormon Battalion exhibit and lots of cute shops. We ate yummy Mexican food and did a little shopping and even visited a store entirely dedicated to root beer, the guys were in heaven. Colt and I were lucky enough to spend some time together at Mission Beach. We went along the boardwalk a little and put our toes in the sand. We were attacked by a rouge wave and got soaked, I thought it was fun but of course Hubby was annoyed even though he was wearing shorts and I had long pants on. We all ended the night toasting smores by a huge fire-pit near the hotel pools. Emma loved it.

It was such a nice vacation even if Katie slept in our bed each night and we had two in diapers and not walking. There were times of frustration from lack of sleep and plenty of melt downs. I enjoyed the calm and ease of San Diego, at least the parts we saw. I would like to go back someday, probably without any kids.

That story about Emma getting wet made me laugh out loud. Poor gal! I'm glad you've gone so I can get some ideas when we decide to finally go on a vacation as a family...IF that ever happens. Such a fun time!
